The Emperor’s Parade
February 16 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm
What if the Emperor and Empress took to the streets to celebrate the new year with their people?
Take to the streets and catch a glimpse of this year’s honorary Emperors and Empresses as this colorful parade takes them from Chuo Park, through the streets of Nagasaki to Minato Park in Chinatown.
On Saturday 9th, the Empress is Hina Kawago, a member of the ever-popular Nogizaki 46 and from Nagasaki! The Emperor is Toshiyuki Hayashi.
On Saturday 16th, the Emperor is Makoto Teguramori, the new coach of Nagasaki’s V-Varen Football Team. The Empress is Haruka Matsuo, an actress from Nagasaki.
There are sure to be big crowds, so come early and find a place to watch!
Not sure where to go? Here are three great vantage points:
- Before 2:00PM at Chuo Park – To watch as the parade kicks off
- Near McDonalds in Hamanomachi Arcade – the parade goes through the arcade twice, so this is a great place to get a look!
- Before 4:30PM at Minato Park – The parade comes to a close here in Chinatown!
