“Genshousetsu”: Mark the End of the Lantern Festival at Sofukuji Temple
February 19 @ 5:30 pm
Mark the very last day of the lantern festival at Sofukuji Temple with the solemn “Genshousetsu” event. The last day of the lantern festival marks the first full moon of the new lunar year. There will be free “Genshou Dango” dumplings given out from to the first 500 people from 5:30PM, and the white dumplings resemble the full moon!
Away from the busy crowds and bright lanterns, 1000 red candles will burn through the night. If you’re looking for the true roots of the lantern festival, look no further.
